Our Bureau

Mumbai, Dec. 12

The rupee was almost flat against the dollar. The home currency opened at 44.78/80, traded between 44.82 and 44.84 levels, to finally close at 44.83/84 against the previous close of 44.83/85 on Monday. "The rupee was pushed down to the levels of 44.92 when the equity markets started to weaken," said a dealer at a private bank. "The industrial output grew at 6.2 per cent in October which was below market expectations, impacting the rupee," he said. In forwards, the six-month closed at 2.79 per cent (2.68 per cent) and the 12-month ended at 2.47 per cent (2.42 per cent).
