Co-op bank staff to join strike

Our Bureau

Coimbatore, Dec. 12

Co-operative bank employees from almost all States (including the North Eastern parts of the country) have resolved to extend support to the December 14 strike call given by the Central Trade Union Organisations to protest against the Centre's anti-labour policies and attacks on the working class. The General Secretary of the All-India Co-Operative Bank Employees Federation, Mr P. Balakrishnan, said about 1.20 lakh co-operative bank employees and officers working in the State apex banks, agriculture and rural development banks, district central co-operative banks, urban co-operative banks, primary agriculture and rural development banks and societies would participate in the strike.

The strike is to express the discontent and anguish of the working class against the abnormal rise in prices and the economic policies of the government.
