Outlook Sun Micro eyes pharma, retail, media sectors Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 12 Sun Microsystems India after having forayed in to the ITES, telecom and manufacturing space will now be looking at the retail, healthcare and media sectors for its Identity Management Software (IDM). The company is now in talks with the country's three-four major retailers. It is seeking to tap more clients in the ITES space for its IDM software. Declining to reveal the name of the retailers, Mr Jay Huff, Global Marketing Director, Sun Microsystems said, "With global retail giants such as Carrefour availing our software, we would be seeking to build up our presence among top Indian retailers. In India, we are looking aggressively to acquire a stronger position as a software vendor." In order to market its software, the company will be organising meets with Chief Information Officers across different sectors in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and others to discuss issues related to security and identity management. The company will also be launching its upgraded version of Solaris next month. Last year, the company's business in IDM grew by 70 per cent. As per IDC data, growth stood at 24 per cent globally. In India, the company's software Solaris market share in terms of revenues registered 38.2 per cent and 56 per cent for Unix.
