Team to promote free software

The State Government proposes to set up within two weeks a team comprising senior officials, entrepreneurs and free software professionals to suggest ways for promoting Kerala as a destination for free software enterprises. The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, announced this after discussions with a group of representatives from Red Hat India, a leading free software powerhouse. The company has evinced interest in cooperating with State Government initiatives. Mr Nandu Pradhan, President and Managing Director, represented Red Hat India in the talks. Mr K. R. Jyothilal, Secretary, IT, Kerala, and Mr Joseph Mathew, IT Consultant, represented the State Government.
