Chennai , Dec. 13

ICI Paints expects to gain a larger share of the premium paints market with the launch of Dulux Light & Space paint which claims to reflect up to twice as much light back into a room because of which it will look brighter and more spacious.

Launching the brand here, "the first market outside of the UK," Mr Vikrant Khanna, Marketing Manager, ICI India Ltd, said that the product was a result of consumer research which revealed that as home sizes in metros become smaller there was a need among consumers to make their homes look brighter and bigger.

Mr Khanna said that the new paint was created by the global R&D wing of ICI Paints in the UK with patented "Lumitec technology".

The company plans a comprehensive campaign addressing consumers to painters to market this new product.

ICI claims a 24 per cent share of the premium emulsions paint market, which is around Rs 1,500 crore.
