DIPPING VOLUME: A worker extracting nutmeg seed from the fruit at a farm near Vythiri, Kerala's Wayanad district. Short supply from other producing countries has increased the unit value of most spices in the country. Export of spices increased during April-October despite decline in volume.

Nutmeg and mace production has been estimated at 1,085 tonnes, valued at Rs 21.35 crore, this year against 1,117 tonnes, valued at Rs 22.18 crore, last year.
