Mumbai , Dec. 14

Willis BA India Pvt Ltd has set up a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) division in the country. It will offer insurance to mitigate risks from M&A transactions.

The fact that Tata AIG will soon launch similar M&A insurance products in the Indian market, has opened up an opportunity for brokers

Mr Alistair Lester, International Practice Leader — M&As, Willis Ltd, said that apart from the US and Europe, the company has set up similar practices in China, Japan, Singapore and Australia in the past six months.

"There has been an explosion of M&A activity in India and we see a tremendous opportunity," he said.

Willis BA India was recently involved in developing insurance solutions for Nicholas Piramal Ltd's acquisitions in the UK and Canada.
