Edible oil imports dip in Nov

Edible oil imports dipped by 23 per cent in November 2006 to 2.5 lakh tonnes from 3.2 lakh tonnes year-on-year, according to data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India. Out of the total oil imports refined oil accounted for 2 per cent at 5,500 tonnes, while crude oil 2.4 lakh tonnes being 98 per cent.

Palm group of oils was imported to the tune of 1.8 lakh tonnes accounting for 75 per cent of the total edible oil imports in November. Soft oil import accounted for 25 per cent of the total oil imports at 62,250 tonnes.
