Performance Web Extras - Telecommunications ITI turnover up 26% Our Bureau
Bangalore , Dec. 15 Bangalore-based telecom firm ITI announced a 26 per cent growth in its turnover to Rs 1,749 crore during the year 2005-06 over the previous year. This was on account of a spurt in its manufacturing activity during the year. "Supplies of GSM mobile infrastructure equipment manufactured indigenously at the new facilities at Mankapur and Rae Bareli yielded Rs 500 crore against an order of three million lines worth Rs 900 crore for the West zone," said Mr Pritam Singh, CMD in-charge, addressing the company's 56th annual general meeting on Friday. An order for two million lines had also been received, which ITI hoped to complete in the ensuing year, he added.
Other products
Other products recently developed and successfully deployed were the wireless siren system with simultaneous voice broadcast and the Intermediate data rate modem. ITI has also diversified into non-telecom domains such as bank automation, SMPS power supply units and solar panels. Work on next generation networks (NGN), broadband networks, WiMAX, antenna and microwave equipment for GSM, Gigabit passive optical networks and e-governance has begun, said a release. The company has also bagged a trial order for a pilot project on National ID cards (smart cards).
The company's outlook for the current year (FY 2006-07) is Rs 2,000 crore, with confirmed orders on hand worth Rs 1,839 crore and further advance purchase orders of Rs 568 crore.
