Retailing Industry & Economy - Real Estate & Construction States - Tamil Nadu Ampa mall to be ready by mid-April Our Bureau
Chennai , Dec. 15 The first phase of Ampa Center One, the 6.5-lakh sq. ft. mall developed by the Chennai-based Ampa Housing Development Pvt Ltd, will be ready for business by mid-April 2007. The first phase of the mall, which is coming up on Nelson Manickam Road towards the west of the city, would consist of retail floors, food court and parking lots. The company has signed up with Spencers' for the hypermarket. The covered car park can accommodate 850 cars with additional valet parking facilities for 200 cars. McDonalds will make its debut in Chennai at this mall. The second phase would be ready by June and would consist of a 20-room boutique hotel and multiplex. The company has tied up with PVR Cinemas to run the seven-screen multiplex with over 1,800 seats. Mr Ampa Palaniappan, Managing Director, Ampa Housing Development, said that the cost of construction of the mall was about Rs 72 crore. He said that the construction was delayed by a few months because of "market forces". The company is also developing over half-a-million sq ft of IT space on Nelson Manickam Road with an investment of about Rs 105 crore. Mr Palaniappan said that this project would be completed by January 2008.
