E-Commerce & E-Business Kale Consultants plans foray into travel-related areas R. Savitha
Pune , Dec. 15 From a travel and transportation industry-focused company, Kale Consultants is all set to include into its fold e-commerce, decision support systems and other travel-related areas. Speaking to Business Line, Mr Vipul Jain, Managing Director, said that the company is looking at a complete transformation within a time span of three years by which time it would have its presence across all the segments catering to the travel and transportation sector. "The idea is to be a full solution organisation in all the major sectors in travel and transport segment. It would not only be present in the niche segment but would provide solutions and technology in other domain space and leverage the strength that we have - brand, customer solution and IT capability, domain knowledge, etc." Mr Jain also said that Kale has been growing for the past couple of years at 30 per cent, a little above the industry level of 26 per cent. He added that with these expansions, it would be able to touch a growth level of 40 per cent. During the first two quarters, it has posted a growth of 30 per cent. Mr Jain also said that as part of the global initiative, it has tied up with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to bring in e-freight to India. It would act as the nodal agency to co-ordinate activities required to implement e-freight in India. IATA e-freight is one of the five global initiatives being undertaken under the Simplify the Business Programme. He said that to begin with it would be hosting a seminar in early 2007 to bring in the stakeholders - the Government, Customs, major airlines, freight forwarders, shippers and others - to create an environment for e-freight to the country.
