IndiGo gets CAT-III approval

New Delhi, Dec. 15

Low fare air carrier IndiGo has announced that it has received CAT-III approval from the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation to operate in fog conditions. With over 40 per cent of its pilots trained to operate in low visibility conditions, IndiGo will be able to maintain significantly better operations during the fog season this winter, said the company. Operating in CAT-III mode essentially means that airplanes can depart and arrive when visibility is 200 m or more, against 500 m in CAT-I or normal operations.
