Kochi, Dec. 19

Kerala's Pallikoodam School was declared the national champion of TCS IT Wiz 2006, in which over 8,000 students from 535 schools from eight cities across the country participated.

Mikhail Jacob and Joseph Sebastian from Pallikoodam School walked away with the TCS IT wiz National Winner trophy, closely followed by Nikita L. Mehta and A.K. Somaiah from St Judes Public School, Kotagiri in Ooty, as runners-up in one of India's largest inter-school IT Quiz, a press release from TCS said.

Mr S. Ramadorai, CEO and MD of TCS, handed over the trophies to the winners along with laptops, digital cameras and DVD players.

TCS launched the country's first ever inter-school information technology quiz for schools in 1999 in Bangalore.

REGIONAL WINNERS

At the Banyan Park TCS campus, Mumbai, regional winners from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Kochi, Pune, Delhi and Lucknow battled for the TCS IT Wiz winner's trophy. The participants were in the age group of 12 to 17.

All 16 regional winners received a laptop each, laptop bags, mouse, pen drive, TCS backpack, knowledge adventure CD from Malayala Manorama and gift vouchers from Westside along with copies of `Sand to Silicon', `Creation of Wealth' and `Think about IT' published by TCS.

SPECIAL PRIZE

Ms Mala Ramadorai founder member of TCS Maitree announced a special prize - a trip to Singapore to Nikita Mehta and her parents as a surprise incentive, being the only girl contestant in the competition.

The high level of competition among eight teams on stage and the interactive style of quizzing by Quizmaster Giri Pickbrain made the quiz very exciting, the release said.
