Rubber Rubber prices soften further Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Dec 19 Physical rubber prices softened further on Tuesday. The covering groups and purchase agents were not interested in enhancing their commitments though the international indices finished higher. Arrivals are improving and a decline in global futures might lead to another sharp fall since there are have enough stocks here now, an observer said. Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 88.50 and Rs 89 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 90 on Monday.
Futures improve
Rubber futures turned better on the major commodity exchanges. The January delivery contract for RSS 4 moved up to Rs 91.10 (Rs 89.92), trading 952 lots (1076) on the MCX. On the NMCE, the last traded price for the January contract firmed up to Rs 91.51 (89.99), February to Rs 93.25 (91.14), March to Rs 94.50 (92.88) and April to Rs 97 (95.73) for RSS 4. The per kg physical rubber prices were: RSS-4 88.50 (90), RSS-5 85.50 (88), ungraded 82 (83.50), ISNR 20 86 (87) and Latex 60 per cent 54.70 (55.80).
