An elementary nonwovens training course will be held in Mumbai between January 4 and 5, 2006 by the Association of Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) and this will be the first ever INDA certified course to be held in India.
The training course is being conducted in association with the Textiles Committee and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Over 100 companies and persons associated with the nonwoven and technical textiles are likely to figure in the training course, which will focus on basics of the nonwovens including the products and the production methods including the technologies such as airlaid, wetlaid, spundbonded, meltblown, needle punch and spunlaced, according to Dr Seshadri Ramkumar, an expert in nonwovens and faculty at the nonwovens and advanced materials laboratory, Texas Tech University, US. Dr Ramkumar will also be the tutor for the training course
Awaiting Clearance
Dr Ramkumar said that INDA, which is bullish on Indian scenario for nonwovens, is also planning to open its India office soon and is awaiting the necessary procedural clearance from the Indian Government.
Several Indian majors including the Reliance, which is believed to have become a member of the INDA recently, are eyeing the burgeoning nonwovens market. INDA has projected the global market for nonwovens and technical textiles to be around $22 billion by 2009.
