Thiruvananthapuram , Dec. 20

The Technopark-based IBS Software Services will provide its Avient Fleet Management System to Iberia, Spain's largest airline.

IBS is seeking to achieve this through its subsidiary, Avient Solutions Ltd, UK, which has in turn signed a contract with EDS, a leading IT and BPO services player. EDS is the prime contract vendor for Iberia.

Avient Fleet Management System will help Iberia replace a number of legacy systems with one new integrated system, says Mr V.K. Mathews, Chairman and Managing Director, IBS Group.

Fleet maintenance, assignment, control and recovery are costly and time consuming processes which demand careful planning and execution. The Avient system has a combination of advanced features, robust architecture and a flexible, customer-focused approach to meeting specific business and schedule requirements.

It also incorporates an advanced set of operational planning, control and maintenance management tools to help airlines reduce costs due to delays and cancellations. A key feature of Avient Fleet Management is that it can effortlessly integrate with existing systems.

It will support the operation of about 240 aircraft at Iberia, 1,000 flights per day and up to 300 concurrent users across multiple bases, Mr Mathews said. With this, IBS enters Europe as a preferred vendor for flight operation solutions for full service airlines.

Iberia serves around a hundred destinations, while reaching more than 80 additional ones through code-sharing arrangements with other airlines. Its main line of business is transport of passengers and freight but also handles aircraft maintenance of its own fleet as well as of other companies including leading European airlines. Iberia is also into aircraft and passenger handling services in all Spanish airports, where it serves more than 250 carriers.
