RBI & Other Central Banks Industry & Economy - SSI States - West Bengal RBI to hold meeting on loans to farmers, small enterprises Our Bureau
Kolkata , Dec. 20 The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will convene a special meeting of the State Level Bankers' Committee under the chairmanship of the Deputy Governor of RBI to discuss issues pertaining to credit for SMEs, small-scale projects, the agriculture sector and self-help groups in West Bengal. This was stated here today by Dr Y.V. Reddy, Governor of the RBI, who is in the city to attend a meeting of the board of directors of the RBI here tomorrow. Speaking to newspersons after calling on the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Budddhadeb Bhattacharjee, at Writers' Buildings, Dr Reddy said that, in course of their discussions, the Chief Minister had raised the topic of lending to the poor in both urban and rural areas, SMEs and self-help groups. On West Bengal, he said that there had been a dramatic change and overall development in the State. The State's fiscal position had improved and, though there were some loans, there was no overdraft.
