New Products & Services Asia MotorWorks rolls out new truck models Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Dec. 22 Asia MotorWorks Ltd (AMW), a new entrant into commercial vehicle market, plans three models to cater to a diverse set of users in the country. The company, established in 2002, specialises in design and manufacture of high tonnage vehicles on a hybrid platform. The company base located in a 300-acre site in Bhuj assembles high tonnage trucks through partnership with Cummins, ZF, Valeo and Meritor among others. AMW launched two models series 4923 TR and 2523 TP here today. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of AMW, Mr Anirudh Bhuwalka, said that the company has planned investment of about Rs 500 crore. It has a capacity to assemble about 10,000 vehicles a year. Announcing the launch of a higher tonnage vehicle of 49 tonnes and a distribution network in Andhra Pradesh and DRD Trucks India, as their partner, Mr Bhuwalka said that these trucks are based on amalgamation of some of the advanced automotive technologies. Referring to the Indian market for trucks, he said that the rapid industrialisation, sustained growth in the gross domestic product and the Government's focus on creating new highways, would mean a significant leap in transporting freight through road. The truck segment in which the company operates requires about 1,75,000 vehicles per annum and as per estimates, Andhra Pradesh contributes to about 25 per cent of the Tipper market. The potential is there to be tapped, he said. The company has set up sales and service operations in Tamil Nadu and in Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad and Vijaywada and sees significant potential in the southern market. The company is also in the process of establishing warehouses in South and North for automobile parts. The company sold 500 vehicles in the market and sees it expanding reach with the launch of some more models.
