Tea Good demand for teas in North India Our Bureau
Kolkata , Dec. 24 Demand patterns for CTC leaf and dust categories during the week beginning December 18 were similar in all the North Indian auction centres i.e., Kolkata, Guwahati and Siliguri. Good liquoring and well made varieties sold at dearer rates. Medium and plainer varieties were irregular with the cleaner sorts remaining fully firm to dearer. All segments of the domestic market operated actively. Offerings in the Darjeeling and orthodox sections in Kolkata reflected the seasonal drop in quality. Well made categories sold at firm rates but the plainer varieties eased slightly following quality. The orthodox market was supported mainly by the buyers from the West Asia, with fair CIS enquiry and some competition from North India. Darjeeling teas saw good support from the major packeteers and local dealers.
