Island Sky calls at Mangalore port

Island Sky called at New Mangalore Port on Sunday. Sources in the port told Business Line that the vessel with 99 passengers and 68 crewmembers on board left New Mangalore on Monday.

These passengers were senior citizens from the UK, Australia and the US. On Sunday, they visited places in and around Mangalore and celebrated Christmas at the port in the evening. On Monday they visited Dharmasthala.

Passenger Vessels

More and more passenger vessels are calling at the port during the current fiscal compared with the previous year. Island Sky was the fourth vessel to call at the port during 2006-07 and one more vessel is expected on January 1. As many as four passenger vessels called at the port during 2005-06.

Pacific Princess, a luxury vessel with 634 passengers and 384 crewmembers called at the port on August 30 as its first port of call in India.

The same vessel with 623 passengers and 384 crewmembers called at the port on September 3 during its second voyage.

The third passenger vessel Spirit of Adventure with 266 British passengers and 208 crewmembers on board called at New Mangalore Port on November 15.
