Outlook Viewsonic LCD TV, projectors launch soon Our Bureau
New Delhi , Dec. 25 US-based visual technology products company, Viewsonic Corporation, will launch LCD projectors in the first quarter of 2007 and LCD televisions in the third quarter of the next year in the country. Currently operating in the LCD and CRT monitor market, it has the fifth position in terms of volume. The company which opened its first office in Delhi in July 2006, plans to have over 100 retail outlets by 2007. Currently, it has three outlets in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. "All these outlets would be franchisee-based models. Besides, we are in talks with major retailers to provide space for our products in some of the mega malls. Hence, very soon we expect to have an entire section to display a range of products in these places," said Mr Gautam Ghosh, Country Manager India, Viewsonic. He said the company had clocked around $1.5 million every month in this quarter from its India operations. Considering the fact that the company's competitors such as LG and Samsung have manufacturing bases in India, it makes sense to set up a unit here in the future, he said. The company recently launched LCDs with an iPod dock, ViewDock. It incorporates an iPod docking station, four USB 2.0 ports, an 8-in-1 card reader along with other accessories.
