Next wave in outsourcing

New Delhi, Dec. 25

Business Transformation Outsourcing (BTO) would be the next wave in outsourcing after Business Process Outsourcing (BPOs) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO), states a report released by Assocham.

Unlike BPOs that were started to cut costs and KPOs, which began for high-end knowledge based outsourcing, BTOs provide advice to clients on how to transform business, enhance performance and take strategic decisions. BTO's market potential is estimated at around $680 billion by 2008-09 and the percentage of BTO services in the outsourcing spectrum is expected to increase from 19 per cent in 2004 to 31 per cent by 2009, says the report.

As per Assocham study, Bangalore tops the list of preferred destinations for BTO, followed by Gurgaon, Delhi and Chennai. Mumbai has been placed at fifth position, followed by Kolkata and Pune.
