Chennai , Dec. 27

The Indian Monument Manufacturers Association (IMMA) will organise the third stone fair in Chennai from January 4 to 7 to showcase the granite industry's creativity and its offering for the global markets.

The IMMA Stone Fair 2007 to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre will have around 190 exhibitors, according to the fair's Chairman, Mr R. Veeramani.

At a press conference on Tuesday, he said that two earlier stone fairs in 2003 and 2005 focussed mostly on monuments. This year, in addition to new types of monuments there would be fine quality sculptures. Companies from Spain, Italy, China and Japan are participating as exhibitors in the fair. Buyers and visitors from countries such as the US, Canada, Ireland, Japan, China, France, Germany and Italy are attending the fair, Mr Veeramani said.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr M. Karunanidhi, will inaugurate the fair and the Japanese Consul General for South India Mr Yoshiaki Kodaki will be the guest of honour, he said.
