Kolkata, Dec. 27

West Bengal has been the original hub for the Indian rubber industry and yet it is dying today, Mr Anil Sampath, Chairman, India Rubber Expo 2007, said on Wednesday. Addressing a preview of the expo here he said that entrepreneurs of the region needed to sit up and see where the rubber industry was going globally.

The four-day expo is to be held in Chennai from January 17 to 20. A press release quoting Mr Sampath said that the expo provided an ideal opportunity for manufacturers and consumers of the rubber industry to gather on a common platform to explore business opportunities leading to greater commercial viability and economic growth.

The expo will focus on three core areas, namely, the rubber machinery sector, the automotive components sector, and the plantation sector, and will have more than 250 participants exhibiting on 10,000 sq. meters. The exposition is expected to play host to 10,000 visitors including 1,500 international delegates.
