Human Resources Industry & Economy - Economic Offences States - Tamil Nadu Warning against employing pvt individuals in Govt offices R.Y. Narayanan
Coimbatore , Dec. 28 The Tamil Nadu Government has issued a warning that it would view seriously employment of private individuals in the Government offices, done mainly by officers in their personal capacity. The practice should be ended forthwith and "all outsiders should be kept out of the office'', Mr T.S. Sridhar, Special Commissioner and Secretary to Government, Personnel and Administrative Reforms (S) Department, has said in a letter to Heads of Departments and District Collectors. He said the Vigilance Commission had brought to the notice of the Government that private individuals were employed in Government departments in general and in "departments like revenue, registration, regional transport offices, public works, highways, rural development and panchayat development etc. in particular by the officers in their personal capacity providing scope for corruption and collection of illegal gratification from the general public in the Government offices". He said employing private persons in Government offices in personal capacity of the officer/head of offices was a serious offence. These private persons were paid remuneration illegally by the staff to carry out their work. Mr Sridhar has asked the Heads of Departments/District Collectors and their subordinates to follow the above instructions scrupulously.
