Australian healthcare council to open office in India

Bangalore , Dec. 28

The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS), through its subsidiary, ACHS International (ACHSI), and its partner, Quality Health Australia (QHA), will be opening its office in India early next year to offer the ACHS Accreditation Programmes for India.

In a deal facilitated by the Australian Trade Commission, ACHSI and Quality Healthcare Australia have entered into an agreement with the Quality Council of India and the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers in India for recognition of ACHSI Accreditation in the sub-continent.

Quality Healthcare Australia is a private Australian company, which trains hospital staff for accreditation by ACHSI. It offers quality improvement by training hospitals in all specialties including clinical, maintenance and administrative areas.

According to the Executive Director of Quality Healthcare Australia, Dr Robin Pavillard, "ACHS gives accreditation to 95 per cent of Australian hospitals and has been in this field for 30 years. The accreditation is all about ensuring that hospitals have a safe quality care satisfying patients with excellent outcomes".

"Indian hospitals adopting ACHSI accreditation can improve their hospital systems to match the best in the world.

ACHSI accreditation sets a role model among hospitals as to what healthcare systems could and should be," Mr Pavillard said.
