Budget 2007-08

This is with reference to "Call for bold mid-term correction in Budget" (Business Line, December 31).

The 2007-08 Budget will indicate whether the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, has taken this call made by leading economists seriously and whether the Government is going to implement schemes to raise the living standards of farmers and farm workers and the growth rate in agriculture.

Why not the government declare 2007 the "Farmers' Year"?

A Jacob Sahayam,

Thiruvananthapuram
