Our Bureau

Mumbai , Jan. 2

The Maharashtra State Government Employees' Central Confederation, one of the major State Government employee unions, has demanded time-bound promotion for the State Government employees, according to a release issued to the media.

Due to the mammoth size of the State Government bureaucracy, promotions, especially in the non-officer grade, have been very slow.

The Confederation has demanded that employees should be given promotions every seven years. Therefore, the employee should get at least three promotions in his career, the release said.

The pay scales of State Government clerks for last many years have stagnated in the range of Rs 3,050 to Rs 4,590. The confederation wants the pay scales to be between Rs 4,040 and Rs 6,000. It also wants the travelling and dearness allowance to be increase from Rs 50 to Rs 200 per day. The allowances have been the same for last 10 years, the release said.

Ambulance

To handle any medical emergencies especially in the Secretariat building, the Confederation wants an ambulance and paramedic unit to be stationed during working hours.

The Confederation has also demanded that the five-day-week system be reintroduced for the State Government employees, the release said.
