CONNECTING TIME: Mr Muthu Logan, President & CEO, Brovis Wireless Networks, Chennai, at a BL Club meeting at Madha Engineering College.

Chennai , Jan. 3

Entrepreneurs are not equal to inventors. Inventor might only create a new product, whereas, an entrepreneur will gather resources, organise talent and provide leadership to make it a commercial success,Mr Muthu Logan, President & CEO, Brovis Wireless Networks, told the students of Madha Engineering College.

Having satisfied with the response to his question as to how many from the audience would be interested in becoming an entrepreneur, Mr Muthu, quoting the President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, said the future of India lies in entrepreneurship.

Delivering a lecture under the Business Line Club series, he said with the advent of information technology, the world has become a global village. No company can be insulated from the movements at the global level and, therefore, every entrepreneur needs to think and act like a global entrepreneur.

How does a global company operate? The sourcing of technology, investment and funding comes from the US. The manufacturing of the OEM and component goods take place in China, Taiwan and Korea. India designs, gives value addition as well as extends servicing and the globe becomes the marketing and sales play ground.

The role of a entrepreneur lies in leveraging the cycle of globalisation movement, leveraging resources, money, people, medicines, etc., and finally leveraging global opportunities. Responsibilities are creating new jobs globally, breaking trade and cultural barriers, creating new ideas and opportunities, urbanisation of the rural areas and focus on the bottom of the pyramid.

Challenges for a global entrepreneur are a demanding schedule, high risks, making a lot of sacrifices, living with a lot of dependencies and dealing with the political and economic factors of various countries, Mr Muthu said.
