In an effort to conserve energy, the Andhra Pradesh Government has passed an order that seeks to regulate the usage of air conditioners, refrigerators, artificial lighting, lifts etc., in Government offices and other establishments in the State. This order passed on January 2 is aimed at partly easing up the huge demand-supply mismatch faced by the State lately due to sudden surge in demand from the farm sector and significant depletion in generation capacity in the State, necessitating purchase from Central stations.
