Dr S. Chandrasekhar, Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) here, has been chosen for the Rajib Goyal Young Scientist Prize in Chemistry for 2005. The award is given annually by the US-based NRI philanthropist Mr Ram S. Goyal.

To be conferred by the Kurukshetra University in February 2007, the award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a medal, according to a press release from IICT. Dr Chandrasekhar has made significant contributions in the synthesis of bioactive molecules in anti-cancer, immunosuppressive and anti-depressant research work, the release added.
