Kochi, Jan. 5

The Cochin Port Labour Union has urged the Supplyco to drop its plan to move tea processing to dilapidated Kallu Godown at Thoppumpady, as it has no adequate facility for blending tea. In a statement issued here, a union leader said that Supplyco has now contracted tea processing work to a transport contractor to the Godown, which is a dilapidated shed having tiled roof. The contractor has no warehouse for blending tea in Willingdon Island, an essential requirement prescribed in Supplyco's tender, he said.
