The Hindu Business Line : Bombay Dyeing to shift production facility

Bombay Dyeing will shift its entire textile production from Worli facility in Mumbai to Ranjangaon, near Pune. The new plant is expected to be fully commissioned by June.

"The Ranjangaon facility will have a capacity to make 52 million metres of cloth a year, more than double the capacity of the Worli plant," said Mr S.K. Gupta, Executive Director, Bombay Dyeing, at the launch of a new bed and bath collection — Urban Living.

The company is also looking to expand its retail presence by opening 100 company-owned stores in malls across the country over the next three years.

"With increased capacity, we expect to double our turnover from Rs 400 crore to Rs 800 crore in the next three years," Mr Gupta said.

The total capital expenditure on the plant and retail expansion of Rs 302 crore will be funded through a combination of internal accruals and borrowings.

The company's Urban Living collection (bedsheet sets) is targeted at the urban upscale population and is priced at Rs 2,495 and above.

The collection will be available across 450 outlets, exclusive Bombay Dyeing stores, multi-brand outlets and large format stores in the next couple of days.

Shares of the company fell by 1.90 per cent to close at Rs 773 on the BSE.
