Opinion - Letters
Senior citizens

There is no uniformity in the definition of a senior citizen. It different in different Acts.

A person should be deemed a senior citizen at the age of retirement from active service.Today, in the public sector the retirement age is 60 years and in the private sector companies it is 58.

In order to extend benefits and facilities, 58 should be considered valid for the purpose of certification of a person as a senior citizen. And the definition of senior citizen should be uniformly changed in all the relevant Acts.
