Hyderabad , Jan. 8

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom), which is hosting Animation and Gaming India 2007 meet here on January 10-11, will release a study on the promise and potential of the sector.

The two-day event has been structured to chart out the vision, set aspirations and identify strategic imperatives to address global opportunities for these sectors.

The event would also host Animation Super Pitch that has been designed as a platform to showcase original content creation. Its finalists include Pramod Sahoo for Tom, Dick and Harry, Atul Rao of Toonz Animation India for Maharaja Cowboy, Amit Chand and Nikhil Nagda of Ettimina Studios for Mundoo Hunt, Gaurav Jain of Illusion I for Aryaman and Natarajan V of ICAT for Banzi.

According to a Nasscom statement, the super pitch seeks to infuse confidence into aspirants who wish to create original content, while the show is exposed to a large audience of stakeholders and decision makers.

With global entertainment majors signing contracts with Indian animation companies, India is seen to be emerging as an alternative to established animation and gaming hubs globally.
