Mr Rohit Kalra, Managing Director of LA Sovereign, said that the company had already launched around 25 models in various parts of the country and set a target of achieving a business of Rs 40 crore in the first year of operations.

There are also plans to launch battery operated E-bikes using American and European technology in the market soon.

To achieve the sales target, he said the company would tap the market at the consumer level with main attention on schools, clubs, gyms and shopping malls.

Exclusive LA Sovereign shops having display of complete range will also be opened.

According to Mr Kalra, 13 million bicycles are sold each year in the country, which comes to more than one million bicycles a month. With the increase in buying power of the Indian consumers, there is a need to market for premium and more streamline products.

He said that bicycles are made of high quality Taiwanese components using very lightweight and strong raw materials thus making the bikes easy to manoeuvre and handle. The maximum weight of the bike is 18 kg.
