Rlys freight volume up in April-Dec `06

Indian Railways carried 527.95 million tonnes (mt) of freight during April-December 2006, 9.74 per cent higher than what it carried during the corresponding period last fiscal.

During December 2006, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by the Railways was 63.56 mt, up 7.47 per cent than that carried in December 2005, said an official release.
