Zambian President to address healthcare meet

Dr Kenneth Kaunda, First President of Republic of Zambia, will be in Chennai on Friday to speak at an International Healthcare Leadership Summit organised by the Madras Medical Mission hospital as part of the hospital's silver jubilee celebrations.

The summit will discuss various not-for-profit business models in the healthcare sector and the need for charitable organisations in healthcare.

According to a press release from MMM, the summit will be inaugurated by Dr Anbumani Ramdoss, Union Minister for Health and Welfare, and will be attended by eminent personalities from around the world including Prof Per-Gunnar Svensson, Secretary-General, International Hospital Federation, France; Prof Aidan Halligan, Chairman, Ellison Health and former Director - Clinical Governance and Chief Medical Officer, National Health Service, UK; Ms Karen Timmons, President and CEO of Joint Commission Resources Inc and Director of WHO-World Alliance for Patient Safety; Ms Pamela Garside, Chairman, International Health Summit, USA; and Mr Paul Van Ostenberg, Managing Director, Asia Pacific region of Joint Commission International, France.

Over 500 national and international healthcare and service sector delegates including government representatives will take part in the summit, the release says.
