Matrimony Web site in pact with Postal Dept

Kolkata , Jan. 10

Bharatmatrimony.com has tied up with the Department of Posts, West Bengal Postal Circle, for a matrimony retail initiative.

Under the tie-up, registration and membership services of the Web site will be made available through select post offices across the West Bengal Postal Circle, which includes Sikkim and the Andamans.

With the "pay at post office" service, anyone can purchase a Bharatmatrimony.com membership scratch card from the identified post offices or renew existing membership in four steps.

A total of 47 post offices in the West Bengal Postal Circle - including one each in the Andamans and Sikkim - will offer the service.

As far as the Postal Department is concerned, the idea behind the initiative is to offer a diversified range of services to customers even as it results in incremental revenue for the postal administration.

For Bharatmatrimony.com, the initiative is a step towards "filling the gaps in the matrimonial requirements of Indians based in urban or rural or international boundaries."

The initiative has already been rolled out elsewhere in the country.

Currently, two membership packages - Classic and Classic Super - of three, six and nine-month duration each would be on offer.

They range from Rs 1,390 for a three-month Classic card to Rs 4,390 for a nine-month Classic super card.

For every card sold, irrespective of the denomination, Bharatmatrimony.com will pay the postal administration Rs 140, according to Mr Uday Zokarkar, Business Head of Bharatmatrimony.com.
