Hewlett-Packard has announced plans to launch the HP Edgeline printing technology solutions for high-volume workloads in April-May. By 2009, the HP Edgeline product range market opportunity has been pegged at $30 billion, according to Mr Samir Shah, Country Manager, Commercial & Enterprise Printing Imaging & Printing Group, Hewlett-Packard India Sales Pvt Ltd.

Addressing a news conference here, Mr Shah said $1.4 billion had been spent on research & development of the new technology that would facilitate the handling of high-volume workloads of businesses at reduced costs. Mr Shah, however, declined to hazard a guess on how much the projected market opportunity would translate into actual revenue for the company by 2009. Mr Shah said the trend in businesses was more in favour of printing and less of copying.
