F-Secure Corporation, an Internet security provider, has introduced a new version of its messaging security appliance that can block spam and viruses at the gateway level. According to a press release, the appliance called `Messaging Security Gateway Version 4' is designed to support complex e-mail infrastructures and prevent e-mail borne spam from entering networks.

Besides features such as anti-spam, anti-virus and anti-phishing, the device also has a zero hour anti-virus module that protects networks against unknown viruses, said the release. The appliance is available in three hardware configurations and can be run on virtual platforms.
