Emphasising the importance of "employability" of youth, the President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, said that the education system must aim towards employability and ensure quality in education.
There is a large gap in the availability of employable skill. How to bridge this gap is the question, he said. To bridge the gap, an interface is needed between the school curriculum and the needs of the industry, Mr Kalam said while speaking on the occasion of the First National Awards on E-Excellence of Shiksha India an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
Keeping this in mind, he said, the universities and educational systems should create two cadres of personnel a global cadre of skilled youth with specific knowledge of special skills and another global cadre of youth with higher education.
These two cadres will be required not only for powering the manufacturing and services sector of India but also will be needed for fulfilling the human resource requirements of various countries.
