Spot rubber rules weak

Spot rubber finished weak in the weekend session. RSS 4 settled down at Rs 95 against Rs 96 a kg on buyer resistance. The trend was mixed, as the remaining grades except ungraded rubber were unchanged and rather inactive.

Futures mixed

The rubber futures were also mixed with a weak trend in near months and a firm close in far months on NMCE. According to sources, the market lacked specific direction in the absence of global guidance.

The January contract moved down to Rs 96.90 (Rs 97.22), and February to Rs 98.90 (Rs 99.11), while the most active March improved to Rs 101.40 (Rs 101.07) and April contract to Rs 104.30 (Rs 103.81) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes stood at 2,258 (5,432) tonnes and open interest 9,226 (10,249) tonnes.

The February contract for the grade improved to Rs 100.05 (168 tonnes) from Rs 99.17 a kg on MCX.

Spot prices (Rs/kg) were: RSS-4: 95 (96); RSS-5: 92 (92); ungraded: 86 (87.50); ISNR 20: 89 (89) and latex 60 per cent: 64.20 (64.20).
