Bangalore , Jan. 13

The Partnership Summit organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) returns to Karnataka after a gap of five years.

The earlier meet held in Bangalore, was inaugurated by the British Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair.

The three-day event, which has attracted 700 delegates, including international leaders from both politics and business, will start here on January 17. The President of Portugal, Mr Anibal Antonio Cavaco Silva, will inaugurate the Partnership Summit 2007.

Important speakers at the summit include,Mr Kamal Nath, Union Minister for Commerce and Industry; Mr Pascal Lamy, Director General of the World Trade Organisation; Mr George Yong-Boon Yeo, Foreign Minister of Singapore; Mr Alistair Darling, Secretary of State, Trade & Industry, UK; and Mr Francois Loos, Minister Delegate for Industry, France.

Prominent speakers from India would include Mr N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor, Infosys, and Mr Sam Pitroda, Chairman, Knowledge Commission.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Nandan Nilekani, Co-Chairman of the Partnership Summit 2007 and Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of Infosys Technologies Ltd, said with a focus on building positive economic perceptions of India globally, the summit would act as a platform for brand vision and strategic marketing initiatives for India Inc.

He said among the important sessions of the summit are 21st Century: Global outlook, Multilateral trade vs regional trade agreements: Which way to go?, Global growth: Will growth be sustained? and Globalisation, The innovation imperative.
