Bangalore, Jan. 13

PayPal, the online payment company, has announced it will open a new development centre in Chennai. PayPal will be employing a large number of technical personnel soon to run the centre. Mr Scott Thompson, Chief Technology Officer, PayPal said: "The opening of the India Development Centre is crucial in helping to deliver to our customers a great experience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week." The company has locations in San Jose, Dublin, Scottsdale and the Omaha area. PayPal, an eBay company, enables any individual or business with an email address to send and receive payments online using a bank account, credit card or stored balance. Because PayPal allows customers to shop online without sharing their financial information with merchants, privacy is built into the service.
