Oilseeds & Edible Oil Global oilseed output may touch 395.4 mt Our Bureau
Mumbai Jan , 14 Global oilseeds production for 2006-07 is projected at a record 395.4 million tonnes supported by a record soyabean output of 226.8 mt of which the US, worlds single largest producer, accounts for 86.8 mt, followed by Brazil 56.0 mt and Argentina 42.5 mt.
Soyabean production
Good weather in South America has improved yield prospects for soyabean. Chinas soyabean output is estimated at 16.2 mt, but its import requirement for 2006-07 is up to a new high of 32 mt from 28.3 mt in the previous year, according to the USDAs latest world agricultural supply and demand estimates. World vegetable oil production in 2006-07 is seen rising attractively to a high 123.7 mt (118.1 mt), while world usage is forecast to expand even faster to 122.1 mt versus 115.6 mt in the previous year.
Vegoil
Ending stocks of vegetable oil are projected at 9.7 mt, slightly below previous years 9.9 mt.
Wheat estimate
The USDAs latest world wheat production estimate for 2006-07 is 590.7 mt, down from the record 619.8 mt of last year. Rising prices are seen curbing consumption. World wheat usage is projected at 616.3 mt (623.7 mt). Ending stocks have been declining in recent years. For the current year they are projected at 126.8 mt (147.4 mt).
