Alliances & Joint Ventures States - Gujarat SCO Group in pact with Gujarat Govt Our Bureau
Bangalore , Jan. 14 Gujarat will soon see an increase in the use of mobiles as an enterprise tool. The SCO Group, a provider of UNIX software and mobile services, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Gujarat under the aegis of `Vibrant Gujarat' investor summit to form a new venture called Me Inc India. Located in Gujarat, this joint venture will focus on offering mobile enterprise solutions in the cities and rural areas. The new venture is expected to start marketing, sales and distribution of mobile enterprise solutions in India by April. The Me Inc mobile solutions enable enterprises to securely extend existing applications and data to smart phones and other mobile devices as well as enhance the productivity and performance of the handheld devices. "While the Indian cities have seen rapid Internet proliferation over the last few decades, the heartland of the country is still largely unconnected. In the rural interiors of India where PC and Internet infrastructure is almost non-existent, mobile connectivity represents a necessity rather then a luxury. Me Inc will also cater to this untapped market and thereby enable rural connectivity to the rest of India," said Mr Subodh Rustagi, Country Manager of SCO India and SE Asia. "With a profusion of new and smarter mobile devices entering the market, an enterprise is no longer limited by physical space constraints. Devices such as smart phones and tablet PCs now allow real-time direct access to corporate networks," said Mr Sandy Gupta, CTO and General Manager of the SCO Group. "The Me Inc platform enables business transactions from even remote locations and supports field force automation through PDAs, laptops, mobile phones and tablet PCs."
