Outlook Nortel bullish on unified business communication solutions V. Rishi Kumar
Hyderabad , Jan. 14 Technology solutions provider Nortel is bullish on the unified communication solutions opportunity and is in parleys with Indian enterprises to empower and accelerate their business communication. The Microsoft Business Leader India, Nortel, Mr Sukhvinder Ahuja, told Business Line "We are in parleys with enterprises in sectors such as IT, business process outsourcing, healthcare and expect to see good number of deployments by the third and fourth quarter this year. Nortel brings a solutions approach that helps break down today's device and network centric silos of communication such as e-mail, instant messaging, telephony and multimedia conferencing," he explained.
Shared Vision
This market strategy is based on a strategic alliance Nortel and Microsoft formed in 2006 with the objective of accelerating transformation of business communications. During his visit to Hyderabad, Mr Ahuja said that the best part of these solutionsis that they need not junk their existing technology and communication infrastructure. They can build these applications on the existing system. With these tools, one can combine the power of e-mail with voice mail, VoIP (voice over the Internet protocol) call processing, instant messaging and video. Healthcare Services In the case of healthcare, this provides for a powerful communication tool that can help speed up diagnostics even for someone based in a remote village. Similar analogy works in an enterprise where for instance there is a largely dispersed sales force. Nortel and Microsoft have developed a relationship that takes these solutions to enterprises across business segments through channel partners.
