Mining meet to discuss global scenario

A seminar on `Accelerating the momentum in Indian mining sector' will be held in Mumbai on January 20 to closely examine the current status of the mining industry and lay a roadmap for its future growth. Organised by jointly Minerals and Metals Review and Indian Institute of Metals, the meet will have experts share their thoughts on global and national scenario, environment issues, sustainable mining, role of risk management as also information technology.

The Secretary, Union Ministry of Mines, Mr A.K.D. Jadhav, will be the chief guest.

Expert speakers include Government and industry representatives as also consultants from India and abroad.

Metals are becoming increasingly important to fuel the country's economic growth and mining sector has a great potential to provide employment and incomes, the organisers remarked.
