Suryalata Spinning begins trial run of new plant

Suryalata Spinning Mills Ltd (SSML) has said that its greenfield spinning plant, located at Urukondapet in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, has started trial run operations with effect from January 15.The Rs 46-crore plant, with a capacity of 20,000 spindles, manufactures polyester viscose yarn. With the addition of the new plant, the overall capacity of the company has increased from 64,368 spindles to 84,368 spindles.

The trial run would be completed in 10 days and the plant would be fully commissioned thereafter. The production is mainly for domestic consumption, but export markets are also likely to be explored at a later stage, company officials told Business Line.

The new capacity is expected to add Rs 73 crore to the company's topline from the third year. In the first year of operation in 2007-08, the company expects to achieve Rs 60 crore and in second year (2008-09), Rs 65 crore.

The Urukondapet plant is about 5 km away from the company's existing major unit at Kalwakurthy in Mahabubnagar district.

Earlier in the year, SSLM completed the expansion of the Ramtek plant in Maharashtra. To a capacity of 20,880 spindles, another 7,200 spindles was added taking the total to 28,080 spindles, officials said.
